Dinner Guest
January 28, 2009
It’s my hope that some day a reader will send me an e-mail saying they enjoy the site and they’d like to invite me over to their house for dinner. I feel like my sensibilities are so particular that anyone who would find this site enjoyable to read would also be the kind of person I would enjoy spending time with. Now, I admit to being something of a picky eater. I don’t like mushrooms, onions, scallions, mayonnaise, tomatoes, peppers, and a few dozen other things. But I would still consider myself a very easy to please dinner guest and would be happy to try anything you’re willing to cook for me. I live in New York City and I get the opportunity to try all kinds of different ethnic dishes and gourmet meals from some of the world’s best known chefs. However, if you’re hosting me for dinner you should know that I like nothing better than the classics: meatloaf, pizza, spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, hamburgers, anything along those lines.
I mean, I guess if you really want to do something special for me, why don’t you go ahead and put one of these together. I would definitely put that at the top of my “food I’d love to try” list. On the other end of that spectrum — the food I would least like to try — you would find any dish prepared from this book.
Although, if you’re an attractive young woman who is into that type of cuisine, I would be happy to come by and help you stock your pantry.
